Is a toothpaste safe to use for my baby’s teeth, when it says DO NOT SWALLOW?

Do I need to use toothpaste to brush my baby’s teeth?

But if I don't will it be enough to clean his teeth? I know that's a no brainer question, but how am I supposed to know? This parenting thing is more complicated than I have imagined.

To top it all, how do I clean my baby's teeth? These are only a few of the questions, (mind you I have heaps) when my baby's cute little tooth emerges.

Google and mums' group on Facebook is my companion in these complexities of parenting. However, with all the conflicting advice and writings out there, it has confused my baby brain further; some has shed light too however.

I read that I have to use fluoride free toothpaste because too much exposure to it can be toxic and cause flourosis- damage to tooth enamel a change of colour.

But once they reach a certain age, they can have a tiny smear of toothpaste with fluoride, we just have to make sure that they spit it out. Yeah right! I can see myself forcing my baby to spit it out instead of swallowing it, which he normally does.

On the other hand, my baby still needs fluoride, so I can buy those fluoride drops or supplements. Hold on! Did they just say fluoride supplements? Fluoride is not a food or health supplement!

I don’t know with you but it freaks me out whenever I give anything foreign to my baby. See how confusing everything is to a new mum.

So here goes my search for good baby toothpaste. I googled and googled but all I can see are baby toothpaste that have banana and apple flavour. Seriously? I don’t think my baby needs those fruity flavours just to brush his teeth, even if they say it's organic.

Some advertise that it has cute colours and natural fruit flavour. I think we are missing the point here; our babies don’t need those artificial sweeteners and cute artificial colours just to make them enjoy brushing their teeth.

Can you really picture your kids swallowing that toothpaste with artificial sweetener, fluoride and other ingredients that they are not meant to have, which will lead to a serious problem in the future? Our children are the most important people in our lives, so we have to take better care of them, and scrutinize every little ingredient in the toothpaste they are using.

Then, my husband attended a dental seminar and met a New Zealand dentist who makes his own baby teeth serum. We used it and honest to goodness we love it.

Dr.Hisham's Natural Oral Care System
has no badditives: no toxins, no fluoride, no triclosan, no saccharin, gluten free, Vegan and much more.

Imagine that! Finally, a baby teeth serum designed for my baby’s health and teeth. It has put me at ease knowing that my baby isn’t exposed to those badditives that can be found in any other toothpaste.

Our whole family has been using it for several months now, and we couldn’t be happier with the results, and the knowledge that my baby is using a teeth serum that is not only safe to use, good for his teeth but also for his whole well-being.
